  1. What do I do, if I do not have a smartphone or my smartphone is too old to run the authenticator app?
    • You can use other multifactor authentication apps (e.g. Google authenticator). However, we only offer support for the Microsoft Authenticator app
    • You can order an MFA Security key to use instead of an app
      • Employees can order one through RUC here MFA Security key – Serviceportal (ruc.dk)
      • Students can borrow an MFA Security key from RUC for a short period for emergencies
      • Please note: If you wish to use a security key do note that you will not be able to access RUCs systems on your mobile device without your computer
  2. What do I do if I do not wish to use my private phone for work?
    • You can either request a work phone on the serviceportal or get a security key

  3. What if I have an exam and my phone is stolen, forgotten, not working etc.?
    • You can stop by Servicedesk in building 3 and receive a temporary bypass password. Remember to bring a picture ID
  4. Does the Microsoft Authenticator app work without a network connection?
    • Yes, however you have to use the one-time code, which can be found in the app by clicking on your account
  5. Is it possible to be exempted from MFA?
    • No
  6. Can I make a complaint about having to use multifactor authentication
    • Implementation of MFA on all RUC users has been decided and approved by RUC’s top management. If you have a complaint, please refer it to your immediate manager
  7. Can RUC see or monitor what I use my private phone for when I authenticate my sign ins?
    • No
